Cameron Diaz was born in San Diego, California on August 30, 1972.
At 16, she was found by a Hollywood photographer, who helped her land a
contract with Elite modelling agency. She started modelling and travelled around
the world, working for various designers and labels including "Levi's" and
"Calvin Klein", for five years. She appeared on the cover of 'Seventeen'
magazine in 1990.
In 1994, she landed the lead role in Jim Carrey starrer 'The Mask'. The film
was a huge hit. She had to wait till 1997, to repeat her mainstream success with
'My Best Friend's Wedding'.
Her subsequent releases - 'There Is Something About Mary' (1998), 'Being John
Malkovich' (1999) and 'Charlie's Angels' (2000) were box-office hits.
In 2001, she lend her voice to Princess Fiona in the animated movie 'Shrek'.
She reprised her role in all three sequels, the last of which was 'Shrek Forever
After' in 2010. The series is the highest-grossing animated franchise of all
time and ranks fifth in the highest grossing movies series list.
The same year, she played Julie Gianni, a crazed ex-lover who tries to kill
Tom Cruise, in the critically acclaimed film 'Vanilla sky'. The role fetched her
a Screen Actors Guild nomination for best actress in supporting role.
She was next seen in 2002 historical film, 'Gangs Of New York', which she
describes as the pinnacle of her career. She was nominated for a Golden Globe
for best supporting actress.
In the next couple of years, she did a movie every year but apart from
'Shrek' and 'Charlie's Angels' sequels nothing was noteworthy. She finally made
a comeback with 2008's 'What Happens in Vegas' opposite a much younger Aston
Kutcher. In 2009, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Before her breakout role in 'The Mask', at the age of 19, Cameron Diaz shot a
soft-core porn movie with photographer John Rutter.
After 'Mask, she was set to play Sonya Blade in 'Mortal Kombat' in 1995. But
she broke her wrist while taking karate lessons to prepare for the role and had
to be replaced by Bridgette Wilson.
In 1994, she revealed in an interview that she never read movie scripts. She
also said that, "I wish movies were filmed from start to finish because
sometimes I don't understand them." But then, during the promotion of 'Being
John Malkovich', she quipped," "It's been said that in Hollywood there are only
14 different scripts. Well, this is number 15."
She was named one of the "50 Most Beautiful people in the world" by People
magazine in 1998 and 2002. She also featured multiple times in "World's Sexiest"
lists by Empire, Maxim, FHM and many other publications.
She has won 3 Blockbuster awards, a MTV movie award and 2 Alma Awards. She

She lived with video producer Carlos De La Torre for five years from 1990-95
before dating Matt Dillon till 1998. She then dated Justin Timberlake
(2003-2006) and model Paul Sculfor (2008-2009). She is currently dating the
Yankees' baseball star Alex Rodriguez.
