Green Day Front Man Kicked Off Plane Because of Saggy Pants

OAKLAND, Calif. – Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong says his sagging pants cost him a seat on a Southwest Airlines flight.
The singer-guitarist for the San Francisco Bay area band sent a message to his Twitter followers on Thursday expressing his indignation at being tossed from an Oakland-to-Burbank flight for wearing his trousers too low.
"Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f(asterisk)(asterisk)(asterisk)? No joke!" he wrote.
An ABC7 news producer who was on the same flight told the station that a flight attendant approached Armstrong as the plane was getting ready to take off and asked him to hike his pants higher. The producer, Cindy Qiu, says Armstrong initially responded by asking the attendant if there weren't "better things to do than worry about that?"
But the attendant persisted and told Armstrong he could be ejected for his refusal to comply. When Armstrong insisted he was just trying to get to his seat, he and a traveling companion were taken off the plane.
Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins released a statement saying Armstrong was allowed onto the next flight to Burbank and had told a customer relations agent who contacted him he had no further complaints.
"As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer's experience," the statement read. "He elected to take the next flight. We followed up with this Customer and involved Employees to get more details and, in our latest conversations, understand from the Customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction."
A University of New Mexico football player was arrested at San Francisco International Airport in June when he allegedly refused a U.S. Airways attendant request for him to pull up his low-riding pants and, later, the captain's order to leave the plane.
The player, Deshon Marman, was held on suspicion of trespassing, battery of a police officer and obstruction of a police investigation when he allegedly resisted the officer who escorted him from the plane. But the San Mateo County district attorney refused to bring charges.
The incident sparked allegations of racial profiling after a photo surfaced of a man who flew aboard a US Airways flight wearing skimpy women's panties and mid-thigh stockings days before Marman's arrest. That man was white. Marman is African-American.

Angelina Jolie not getting married, focusing on directing and screenwriting debut

Don’t believe the hype–wedding bells aren’t ringing for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt–yet.
“I’m not pregnant. I’m not adopting at the moment,” Jolie declares in the new issue of Vanity Fair, adding that there are no plans for a “secret wedding.”
Instead, the gorgeous Oscar-winner is taking time out to focus on her film career. “Brad thinks I’m going to be a nightmare,” Jolie laughs, explaining how directing her new movie, “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” has changed the way she approaches her acting career.
“I had such a good experience he thinks I’m going to be impatient with directors, which I already am. I get impatient with people working on a film that have their head in their hands like it’s the most complicated thing in the world.”

Writing and directing a film has left the actress feeling vulnerable. “I’ve never felt more exposed. My whole career, I’ve hidden behind other people’s words. Now it’s me talking. You feel ridiculous when you get something wrong.”
Jolie wrote the script when she was stuck at home, battling a virus.
“I had the flu! I had to be quarantined from the children for two days. I was in the attic of a house in France. I was isolated, pacing. I don’t watch TV and I wasn’t reading anything. So I started writing. I went from the beginning to the end. I didn’t know any other way.”
She offered Pitt the finished script to read while on a trip. “He called and said, ‘You know, honey, it’s not that bad.’” The “Tomb Raider” star wasn’t initially planning on directing her debut screenplay. “It was something I didn’t trust out of my hands,” she says. “So by default I ended up putting myself in as director.”
Jolie insisted on using the local people of war-torn Serbia and Bosnia. “It couldn’t be anybody else. It’s their story. It was important that they were willing to do it. If none of them were willing, I wouldn’t have made it.”
Before shooting, Jolie sent the script to “reporters and writers, people of Serbian and Bosnian nationality who’d been through the war. I was gauging the accuracy…. If they said no, I wouldn’t have done it.”
Luckily for Jolie, Pitt was a supportive and helpful critic to Jolie’s freshman writing effort–even if she didn’t agree with all of his advice. “He’d come in and say what he liked or what he didn’t understand. Like any woman, I would listen to most of it and fight a few things. He’s been so supportive. But it’s hard to separate the person that loves you from the critic, so I don’t think he’s a fair judge.”
With some astute feedback from her partner, Jolie is ready for the reaction of the general public. “People will judge for themselves. I think if you make a good movie people walk away arguing.”
The October issue of Vanity Fair will be on newsstands in New York and L.A. on September 1, and nationally and on the iPad September 6.

Derek Jeter Splits From Minka Kelly: Report

Derek Jeter Minka Kelly

The website JustJared.com reported early this morning that New York Yankees icon Derek Jeter has split from girlfriend Minka Kelly, a beautiful brunette actress best known for her role on the television show Friday Night Lights. PopSugar quickly reported that Kelly's rep confirmed the split.
Despite Jeter's stature in the sports world and Kelly's starring turn on a beloved sports drama, the Yankees' captain and the starlet managed to keep their longstanding relationship relatively discreet longer than many of their peers seem to manage. In other words, they were never caught feeding one another popcorn at the Super Bowl.
Rumors were circulating as early as January 2010 that the pair were set to wed, but Kelly was still being coy about the pair tying the knot a year later when she spoke to GQ magazine.
"I promise you, I'm not getting married in the next month," Kelly told GQ.
There seemed to be no sign of an impending split when Kelly joined Jeter's family in a private suite at Yankee Stadium just a few weeks ago to watch him notch his 3,000th career hit, but the report at JustJared.com spread like wildfire on Twitter overnight, with reactions ranging from sad about the break-up to lustful after one of the newly-single stars.
A Yankees fan theorized that Jeter's batting average had something to do with it. Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated wondered if the New York tabloids had time to stop the presses for the late-breaking news and another tweeter blamed Hurricane Irene.

Anne Hathaway finds it easier to be naked than British

Surprise! Despite her reputation as a goody two-shoes goofball, Anne Hathaway finds it less intimidating to film a scene in her birthday suit than to attempt a Northern English accent.
“I was more nervous about the accent than nudity,” The Sun reports Hathaway confessing about playing Emma Morely in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel, “One Day.” “I mean, you can do sit-ups as prep for the nudity. But there aren’t a lot of vocal sit-ups that you can do.”
The film is based on the 2010 book by David Nicholls about a pair of star-crossed Gen X lovers, following their missed connections over the course of 20 years.
Hathaway ditched her clothes to go skinny-dipping in a scene with co-star Jim Sturgess, who plays rakish rich boy Dexter Mayhew.
“Maybe it’s because I have more experience in my life being naked than pretending to be British,” explained Hathaway. ‘I got more comfortable quickly with the nudity than I did with the accent.”

Although Brits had no apparent problem with Hathaway showing her naughty bits, they howled with disapproval when the All-American Disney star was initially cast in the film. In her role, Hathaway plays a girl from working-class Yorkshire.
“I stayed in the accent and used British-isms,” The Devil Wears Prada star explains of her strategy mastering the language’s cadence while living in the U.K. “I was a little disappointed because I hoped I would start dreaming in the accent. You know, that one morning I would just wake up and be in the accent. But that never happened. But once I was in it, the American accent became the ‘other’. It was hard to mix the two so I just wound up staying in it all the time.”
By the end of filming, Hathaway seemed to get the hang of it. “At the wrap party it freaked people out when I started talking like me. I asked them, ‘What’s going on?’ And they said, ‘It’s a bit jarring. You’re kind of a different person now.’”
